German automaker Mercedes-Benz has just introduced the brand's most premium electric SUV, the EQS 680, priced at VND7.61 billion. In the Vietnamese market, the Maybach EQS 680 is "alone" in the super luxury electric vehicle segment.
On the morning of October 10, at its own exhibition held in Hanoi called The Avantgarde 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam launched the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, a super-luxury electric car, priced at VND 7.61 billion. This is also the first electric car branded Maybach, which is positioned to compete with rivals in the super-luxury car segment such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley or Range Rover,... However, in the pure electric luxury car line, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is still the only name and "a horse all by itself".
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is developed based on the chassis platform of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 SUV version (priced at VND 4.99 billion) that was launched in the Vietnamese market in September 2023 with dimensions of length x width x height of 5,126 x 2,034 x 1,721 (mm), and a wheelbase of 3,210mm. However, the upgraded Maybach EQS 680 SUV emphasizes the handcrafted and sophisticated details, clearly demonstrating the luxurious style of Maybach.
The biggest difference between the EQS 500 SUV and the Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the characteristic black grille with a fake Black Panel radiator surface and vertical chrome bars, creating a 3D depth effect. In addition, the exclusive Maybach rims with a new design and a size of up to 22 inches make the super luxury car more prominent and luxurious.
In terms of performance, the two electric motors at the front and rear of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV produce a maximum capacity of 658 horsepower and 955Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and the maximum speed is controlled at 210 km/h.
In addition to standard modes such as Eco, Sport, Off-road, Individual, the car is also equipped with MayBach mode, which helps optimize the experience for passengers in the back seats, with better soundproofing.
This super luxury SUV is equipped with a 118 kWh Lithium-ion battery system, allowing a travel distance of 559-611 km after a full charge, according to the WLTP standard. According to the manufacturer, the DC charging system allows charging from 10-80% in just 31 minutes, while the AC charging capacity helps charge from 0-100% in more than 6 hours.
According to the German car company, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is not just a means of transportation but a work of art on wheels. This is also considered the "final boss" model in the pure electric car line of Mercedes-Benz.
Currently, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is still the only pure electric name in the super luxury SUV segment in Vietnam. However, with a high selling price and an underdeveloped charging station system, it is clear that this is not a car model for the majority.
Previously, the German car brand introduced a total of 5 luxury electric car models, including 3 SUV models: EQB (priced at 2.29 billion VND); EQE SUV (priced at 3.99 billion VND), EQS SUV (priced at 4.99 billion VND) and 2 sedan models: EQS 450+ (priced at 4.839 billion VND) and EQS 580 4Matic (priced at 5.959 billion VND).
In this segment, Mercedes-Benz SUV models face competition from many other luxury electric cars from the same country. Including BMW iX3 (priced at 3.499 billion VND), Audi Q8 e-tron 55 quattro Advanced (priced from 3.8 billion VND) and Audi e-tron SUV (priced at 2.97 billion VND).
As for the super luxury Mercedes-Maybach product line in Vietnam, there are several models such as Maybach S 680, S 580, S 450, GLS 600 and GLS 480. The most expensive is the S 680 Maybach model with a rolling price of nearly 18 billion VND. The two tycoons Minh Nhua and Cuong Do-la both own the Maybach S 450 model, priced at more than 8 billion VND.
